Indeed, we have the good fortune to enjoy a prime location, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale Group mountains, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park.

The Pejo Valley, also known as the "Valletta", included many villages and small towns, such as Celentino and Strombiano, Comasine, Celledizzo, Cogolo and the town of Pejo itself. Both a summer and winter vacation resort, the valley offers stunningly beautiful views and is well suited as a base for starting out on really exhilarating, high-alpine hiking excursions.

 Stelvio National Park

Stelvio National Park

Nestling in the heart of the Central Aps, the Stelvio National Park, with its 130,700 hectares, is the largest of the Italian historical parks. The area is made up of typical glacial valleys and the rugged peaks of the majestic Ortles-Cevedale mountain range, while ¾ of its area is located 2,000 metres above sea level.

The landscape stretches across imposing peaks, covered by lush forests, meadows and verdant alpine grasslands and traversed by fast-flowing streams that rush out foaming from perennial glaciers. The morphological diversity of the considerable altitudes (the Ortler tops 3,905 metres) allows an extraordinary variety of flora and fauna to exist.

In addition to a park with its stunning and unique landscapes, the Stelvio is also rich in history: numerous villages and alpine farmsteads are scattered here and there throughout the valley and on the mountain slopes and they are fascinating examples of rural and sacred architecture, co-existing in perfect harmony with the natural environment.
Also the combat front passed through the park during the First World War and still many traces testifying to those events are visible today, especially in the Valle del Braulio valley and the Stelvio Pass.

Nature and history: a fascinating and compelling combination that is really worth discovering!
